First Impressions - AT&T HTC TITAN 4G [Video]

AT&T TITAN 4G + Box

The TITAN has finally landed on AT&T! Perhaps i of the near talked near and anticipated second-generation Windows Phones, the HTC Titan (we're not capitalizing it every fourth dimension, sorry) lives up to its proper name. It's also difficult to find in stores.  Just the massive 4.7" inch device with a ane.5GHz CPU, 8MP rear camera (arguably the best of the lot), a 1.3MP forepart camera and 16GB of storage (12.5GB available) is certainly worthy of your time to hunt down.

Nosotros managed to get our grubby hands on it and we go over it in the video after the break, comparing it to the int'l version.

Thankfully, AT&T has changed very petty with their version versus the international one released at the get-go of October (meet our hands on video here). Here are the notable changes:

AT&T  International version
Firmware = 11004.502 Firmware = 10902.401
"4G" 1900 (HSPA+) for AT&T "4G" HSPA+ but non-US data ring
SIM-Locked to AT&T SIM-Unlocked
Hearing Assist Uniform (HAC) not-HAC
Standard WP7 accent colors HTC Green Emphasis colour + Standard
Body: Gun Metal Grey Torso: Black

AT&T Titan Firmware

There may other differences but those are the most notable ones we've seen so far. With the add-on of the 1900 WCDMA band, the HTC Titan can finally reach AT&T'due south "4G" HSPA+ network, giving a nice boost to your upload and download speeds. Generation 1 devices were HSPA, meaning 7.2Mbps while second-generation Windows Phones on AT&T feature HSPA+ aka "4G", which is theoretically possible of 21Mbps (but on AT&T, information technology's rare). Forgetting nomenclature, does it make a difference? You betcha.

And then far the telephone feels great and since it is then identical to the international version, we accept cypher only good things to say most information technology. Await for more hands on and a full review this week, in addition to comparisons to other second-gen phones, like the Focus S for starters. Accept questions? Enquire away in comments. Also melody into our podcast tomorrow evening for farther discussion.
